Amethyst Pieces

Amethyst Pieces

Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) with traces of iron and aluminum, which give it its characteristic color. This crystal is associated with spiritual awareness, intuition, and emotional balance and is often used for meditation and energy healing. Amethyst forms within geodes—hollow rock cavities inside volcanic formations—when silica-rich water slowly deposits minerals over millions of years. The iron impurities present in the quartz react with natural radiation from surrounding rocks, producing amethyst’s signature purple hue. The small amethyst pieces available for sale are typically broken from larger geodes, either naturally or through controlled cutting. Some pieces are left raw, maintaining their rugged crystalline structure, while others are tumbled for weeks in a rock tumbler with abrasives to achieve a smooth, polished surface. Tumbled pieces are ideal for carrying, while raw pieces are favored for display and energy work.
