Spiritual/healing properties: 

Black basalt, also known as lava stone or volcanic rock, is a grounding crystal with deep connections to the Earth's energy. While it's not a traditional "crystal" in the metaphysical sense (it's an igneous rock), many in the spiritual and holistic communities believe it carries powerful healing and spiritual properties.  It is also known for its strong connection to the Root Chakra. It helps ground energy and bring stability, especially during times of change or emotional upheaval.  

Formation: 

Basalt is an igneous rock primarily composed of Plagioclase and Pyroxene minerals, typically forming as an extrusive rock, such as in lava flows. Highly sought after, it is frequently used in health centers for stone massages and various other applications.

Cutting & Processing: 

For tumbling or carving (for metaphysical uses) for jewelry, worry stones, or chakra sets, stones may be tumbled in a rotary tumbler with grit and water for days to polish them, or hand-carved into shapes like spheres, pyramids, or palm stones.
