Spiritual/healing properties:

Silky malachite is considered to be a stone of deep transformation.  It’s believed to help with breaking old patterns and encouraging personal evolution.  The silky texture is said to enhance the stone’s ability to smooth emotional turmoil, helping to bring a gentler, more nurturing energy compared to more dense malachite.  Like all malachite, it's a strong protection stone, particularly against negative energies and environmental pollutants.  It’s thought to absorb and then amplify both positive and negative energies, making it a powerful tool for those working on energy healing or spiritual growth.  It is often used to ease anxiety, emotional trauma, and past-life blocks.

Toxicity:

Because malachite contains copper, silky malachite (especially in raw or powdered form) should not be used in elixirs or inhaled. Always handle with care and avoid prolonged skin contact with unsealed pieces.

Formation:

Silky Malachite, renowned for its distinctive rosette or fan-like crystalline formations, captivates with its chatoyant and sparkling appearance. Originating from Kasompe, Congo, this region produces some of the finest silky specimens in the world, making them highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Malachite, a green Copper Carbonate Hydroxide mineral with the chemical composition Cu2(CO3)(OH)2, holds a rich history as one of the earliest ores used to extract Copper metal. Our specimens are meticulously sourced from the Congo, where extensive mining operations focus on its copper content, making specimen-grade material a rare find.

Cutting & Processing:

Cutting and processing of silky malachite is more delicate than working with standard massive malachite due to its fibrous, layered structure.

Due to the fact that Silky malachite contains copper, its fibrous form can be hazardous if inhaled (similar to asbestos-like behavior in extreme cases).  Always wear respiratory protection (N95 or higher), eye protection, and ensure wet working (grinding/cutting with water) to suppress dust.
