Smoky Quartz is a silicon dioxide (SiO₂) mineral with natural irradiation that gives it its signature smoky brown to deep black coloration. It is widely used for grounding, protection, and emotional detoxification. Smoky Quartz geodes form in volcanic rock cavities when silica-rich fluids slowly cool and crystallize over thousands to millions of years. The presence of natural radiation from nearby minerals causes the characteristic smoky tint. These geodes typically remain intact until they are carefully cut open using diamond saws to reveal the internal crystal formations. Some pieces are lightly polished on the edges for a cleaner appearance, while others are left raw to maintain their natural look. Large geodes may be sliced into halves or smaller sections for easier handling and display.
